My introduction was when I was 18 and moved to the Bay Area. I stumbled across the Folsom Street Fair in the first week of moving there and boy was I in for a surprise. I was with a group of "normies" so I wasn't able to delve in as much as I wanted to but I remember feeling a mix emotions, excitement being the one that really stood out. But any movie where someone got tied up was intriguing. James Bond being the tightly restrained by an Interrogatrix was automatically delicious. Then it was girls in school with quiet confidence. The ones who owned their sexuality and by extension owned people like me who could only be attracted to their subtle authority. Moving to the east coast from my sheltered midwest finished me off. When I lived in the Bay Area & I’d visit San Francisco, I’d always see someone on a leash with the sub and dom in leather. It definitely had me doing some research afterwards. Do you feel like you could have cultivated your sexuality as a Mistress/Pro-domme had you stayed in Cali? Or do you think the same opportunities/growth wouldn't have been on the table outside of NYC? I grew up in New Orleans, and although I love the city, I don't think I would have explored my kinky side as much as I did in the Northeast if I stayed there. I didn’t fully explore the BDSM scene when I lived in the Bay Area so, it’s hard to say if I would’ve cultivated my sexuality more there than here. I started exploring the kink scene when I moved to New York. I don’t know if there’s different opportunities for growth in NY vs CA but I do know that I wouldn’t have explored this world if I didn’t move to NY or it may have taken a lot longer to get to the point I’m in. But nonetheless I have learned an immense amount about the scene here in New York. I just can’t speak of California because I never explored it there. Just like Mistress Ang, it’s hard to say. I was way younger and didn’t know how to navigate the scene.
