Hi darlings ❤️

I rewatched Flash Gordon (1980) last night and an idea came to mind. While Dale and Princess Aura take the spotlight (and deservedly so), another woman caught my eye. General Kala, head of the Imperial Army and quite possibly the palace's resident dominatrix lol. She's just... everything. An inspiration.

Here's a highlight reel of her in action:

So! Do y'all have any movie-mistress crushes? Tell me, and I might do some background research before we meet ;)

I haven’t seen Flash Gordon in many years but need to rewatch now.
Ursa from Superman II definitely had some early childhood effect on me, as did Julie Newmar’s Catwoman from reruns of that campy 60s Batman series.

Mistress Kildare:

I never watched that version of Flash Gordon. Being a student of history I am locked in the Buster Crabbe era of Flash Gordon. Dale Arden was my love interest in the original. Mings daughter, Princess Aura, in the original so many years later became the one most likely to be my dominatrix or co-respondent in a divorce proceeding against me.  Perhaps I might watch the 1980 version if I can convince myself that it's not sacrilege.

They weren’t actually Mistresses, but I remember 9 to 5 coming on TV, and “the Boss” Dabney Coleman being hogtied by the newly-empowered employees Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin and having all of the feelings.

oh wow, I saw that in the movies at a young age, I guess that had a subconscious effect on me too hahah.

speaking of also not mistresses, Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman was wearing next-to-nothing and red high boots and tying up dudes every week on TV, and Daisy Duke was suckering those Sheriffs and Deputies into doing whatever she wanted just so they could get a peek at her or get to talk to her.  Man, what was going on in the 80s?  No wonder I'm on this board, lol.

They tried to tame Wonder Woman for TV, but those comics influences snuck through. “The key to peace is for those with unbound force to enjoy being bound,” or something like that.

Ha, that Flash Gordon film with the princess being flogged is one of the earliest things I remember finding erotically intriguing.

I quite like this scene from The Expanse where the matriarch of a whole planet oversees the torture of an enemy prisoner. “Give him another ten hours.”

In the 1980 Flash Gordon, I was turned on by Emperor Ming's daughter, played by Ornella Muti, with her skirt slit to the waist and a midget on a leash (lucky guy!).

It's hardly sacrilege, Queen themselves wrote the soundtrack!! It's worth it for that alone, if anything.

I think everyone was at least a little subconsciously affected by that scene haha

agree, watch it for the soundtrack and keep an open mind and it's certainly an experience.

It's the hair lol though I'm certainly amused. I'm just surprised I haven't gotten other redheaded comic characters yet!

I'm not a comics guy, but this comment made me think you'd be an excellent Black Widow, at least ScarJo's movie version, which is what came to mind.  :D
