Mistress Ahn, Obviously I agree that this is a fascinating topic. And I hope that I'm not monopolizing the conversation and soon other posters will respond. But until then I'll say that I don't have any particular formula. And my approach and decision making criteria (although I don't think it is a well thought out one) has changed over the years. When I began sessioning I was driven by how a Mistress looked and how sexy she was in my eyes. As I played more and became more interested in intense cp I paid more attention to her skills and interests. So even though I continued to be attracted to certain types of ladies ( often women who are well endowed up top with dark eyes)I kept my eyes and ears open for any expressions of interest in spankings, whippings, canings, etc. And over time compatibility became much more of a goal, although it is one of those things that only time and familiarity tell us if it is there or not. Perhaps I'm unusual in this respect but the majority of Dommes that I've played with, at least for a long time I met initially in person without ever noticing their pictures online or hearing anything about them. There are some exceptions of course. I used to be more social and go to scene events and a number of times I was awestruck by a particular Mistress. After that I was determined to learn more about her. If I discovered that our interests matched then I became more focused on meeting her and eventually sessioning. Fittingly, I first saw Mistress Kang at a party, at least a year before I met her for a session. But once a saw her I started asking people about her and reading what I could. Even though I was seeing another Mistress at the time, in retrospect Mistress Kang was already etched somewhere in my subconscious and when the Mistress I was seeing disappeared, the presence of Mistress Kang emerged in the center of my thoughts. As I mentioned in my poast I'm quite curious how others reach their decision and what process and thought patterns they use. whip

Everyone is different. Pain has been a part of my submission since the beginning of bdsm experience. Initially I didn't care for pain either but I discovered that it not only I could enjoy but that it symbolized and helped to realize my submission to dominant women and dominatrixes. Ray, For me the most effective way to increase pain tolerance is time and devotion. I've learned that being particularly devoted to a Mistress and playing with for a long period of time is the best path to greater tolerance for pain. I'm not sure it would work for everyone but it did amazing things for me. Also, I try to focus on how happy I'm making Mistress by offering my flesh. I can't say that I have any special secrets but it helps to relax and realize that you are safe and in good hands even if your flesh is burning for the moment. whip

I'm not sure that are any general answers to your questions. Sexuality, which includes our bdsm proclivities is such an individual and unique part of who we are. I've been searching for answers to many of the same questions you posed. I'm still not sure why I want to submit and why I enjoy the pain from Mistress Kang and from other Mistresses I've met and submitted to. Perhaps it is because I find a part of myself when I tied and surrender. It was a surprising discovery becuase for many years I didn't know that this part of myself even existed. But I'm glad it does and I'm even happier that there are women who are the yin to my yang and vice versa and dish out and fulfill the painful submission and kinky desires that I crave. whip

Mistress Kang, i think it depends on the context, on the particular situation and the two people involved in the scene. Crying could result from being broken or they could be an expression of elation and extreme joy or even depression and sadness. Of course crying could be the climax of the breaking point as well. I can't say that I've ever been broken or that I have even cried in session, although I have come very close to each. I remember once that I was in a very intense relationship with a professional relationship that crossed boundaries into a more personal and lifestyle situation. She once whipped me beyond anything that she had given me before with an edge of hostility and mystery. It was an intensely emotional moment as well as incredibly physically demanding experience. Just before she stopped I was on the verge of tears and even madness. I felt like this was an ending for us and it hurt me deeply. At the same time I had intense submissive feelings and had felt like I had totally surrendered to her at that moment. That was as close to being broken that I've ever felt. I'm sure others feel quite differently about it. I can't really say that I view being broken as being a positive experience but in a different context of a caring loving Domme perhaps it could be.
