Hey guys!!!

I just wanted to share an experience I had yesterday!

I had been invited to a tasting course where each item on the menu contained at least one insect.

(Attached below are some pictures!)

In all honesty, every time I bit into a crunchy little bug, I thought of you guys and how I would chew you up!

Has anyone ever had the pleasure of eating bugs before? If so I would love to hear about your experiences and maybe recipes if you had any to share!

I once went to a party where you were supposed to bring something from your regional cuisine.

My partner at the time (who did not eat them) thought it would be funny to bring chapulines. Basically just pan-fried crickets with garlic, salt, chile, and lime.

The joke was on us. They were a hit and people ate every single one.

I can honestly say I'd be HARD pressed to try these given an experience I had as a child with accidentally chewing on a roach that found its way in my juice at a friends house. The thought of a bug in my mouth makes me shiver BUT these dishes look delectable. I might have to look past the small trauma lol.

I admire your adventurousness! Gotta try things in life and put away fear and judgement (many can't do that).

I've eaten some bugs before. Was part of a visit to a zoo/nature exhibit. Ate chocolate covered crickets, and Cajun fried meal-worms. Both good.

The worms were spicy and crispy. The crickets tasted like chocolate....with a nice little crunch (Nestle's Cricket Bar?)

Hey, bring these to your next party! Yummy variety:

Fordy, I had not expected you to be so adventurous! What other crazy things have you put in your mouth? 😀

Chewing on a roach still sounds horrific. Even I have limits.

I once had a traumatic experience as a kid where I started eating a pop tart and a horde of ants just started crawling out of the wrapped.

It was horrific, I was so confused wondering what the hell was in my mouth, chewed it a bit trying to figure it out. Spit the juice out in the sink and saw the roach all mashed 🤢. Had legs in my teeth 😭, I brushed so hard and vigorous my gums bled.

A horde of ants? Good grief, there must have been a small tear in the wrapper 😭. Still, these pictures present well so I think I could endure eating insects on my terms this time around!

You make me want to shrivel up and sit in a corner for a few days. You deserve some sort of compensation for your trauma, I mean you’re still talking about it like it keeps you up at night lmao

Perhaps a new goal for you? There are only so many original experiences left in this lifetime.

Sounds almost like Ford is hinting that you supply few suggestions... ??

The Black Ant on 2nd avenue gave me the experience of cuisine with ants. It was interesting to say the least.

Have you gone recently? It’s saying it’s closed on Google and I’d really like to make my friends try something new 😛

“Eastern bug herb” (rough literally Chinese translation) is a main staple medicinal herb I still make soup with when I’m not feeling well. Have had it for as long as I can remember… would be a waste not to eat it lol

Nope, it's gone. Website has been deleted. Also see Yelp, which reports it as closed. Last review was in 2024:

For other possibilities, this site seems like a local bug eating source for info:
