You look back on shows and movies you watched as a kid, and suddenly catch all the subtext that went completely over your head?

I’ve seen this talked about a lot with politics and sex, but lately I’ve been pondering something else: how much hidden BDSM was baked into the things we were drawn to early on.

Old marvel comics, spy dramas and vampire stories keep taking on new meaning as I learn and explore. Looking back, it was never subtle 🤭

What was yours?

Reruns of the original black and white Addams Family for sure. Gomez’s devotion to Morticia; her command and control of every situation; the chaotic energy; the literal torture devices everywhere.

Took me years to realize why it left such an impression.

Insightful topic! Here's an example that wasn't so subtle, but Elvira brought a clever fun domme vibe to her persona. On regular TV no less!

How many young boys would develop a taste for BDSM and not even realize it?

She was a Badass:

And I certainly think many kids wouldn't' get the "How's your Head" inference:

1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cartoon series… episode where Rocksteady and Bebop ties up Michelangelo and taunts him with an annoying song. Michelangelo tells them to “put a sock in it” and they take a smelly sock and gag him instead responding “you put a sock in it!”

The imagery has stayed with me all these years and it wasn’t until much later that the subtext dawned on me and it made sense why I was so drawn to that scene.

Good one! There’s just something about Morticia, isn’t there?

I was in love with her dress and her hair!

Haha, develop vs discover… that’s a good question…

What a way for that penny to drop! 😂

This show seems to be a culprit for a lot

Emma Peel is a fictional character played by Diana Rigg in the British 1960s adventure television series The Avengers, and by Uma Thurman in the 1998 film version.

As a lady spy adventurer and expert in martial arts, she became a feminist role model around the world and is considered an icon of British popular culture.

A 1960s fashion icon and sex symbol, the character is often remembered for the leather catsuit sometimes worn by Rigg in her early episodes.

Dear Mistress Lovely: Great topic.

I remember a Porky Pig cartoon in which Porky is at a long dining table with 20 of his brothers and sisters (think bonding house). He ties the ends of the spaghetti on all the plates together and then greedily slurps it all up. He falls into a deep sleep and has a nightmare of being clamped into various mechanical bondage devices and force-fed food by an evil doctor wearing heavy rubber torture gloves. Huge pies are crammed down his throat by the merciless machines as his stomach bloats almost to bursting. He wakes in a cold sweat and resolves to mend his piggy ways.

It’s actually a remarkable coincidence you’ve brought this up today.

Maybe in the future you’ll find out why.

Likewise. Loved the old Bugs Bunny cartoons. Such a wise-ass. Playful and clever. My role model, lol.

Here's a bit of a switch (pun intended)....from the Red Riding Hood 'toon.

"I'll do it, but I'll probably hate myself in the morning...."

I yield Mistress.. just a tiny hint please.

Does the 'remarkable coincidence' have anything at all to do with Mrs. Peel and The Avengers?.. Or is that just camouflage for a different riddle?

And pass up a chance to torment you specifically? :)

Alas 😉 .. I knew that but had to try.

Thought perhaps I'd catch you in a rare semi-Domme moment rather than the usual ultra-Domme mode.

The old Batman series where Catwomen would have them captured, bound and prepped for demise.  Subtle to a child.  Not to a teen who did not understand the turn-on.  Also, possibly more control than BDSM, Ginger seducing Gilligan so he would do her bidding.  Both were awesome.  As a kid, I was attracted.  As a teen watching reruns, paper towels became necessary.

I did delight in those old superhero comics. I’d bookmark the bondage scenes.
